Objectives: This module provides an introduction to fundamental concepts of aseptic technique and surgery. A firm understanding of asepsis is an absolute requirement for ensuring high quality research.
This module must be completed by all individuals requiring a working knowledge of aseptic technique and any individuals intending to perform or assist in surgical procedures.
There are two 15 question quizzes covering material from this module. The first quiz covers the basics of aseptic technique and must be completed by all individuals requiring this knowledge. This includes individuals placing venous or arterial catheters, implanting PIT tags, preparing injectable compounds for animals, performing surgical preps, etc. The second quiz deals specifically with surgical technique and is required by individuals planning to conduct surgical procedures.
To demonstrate adequate knowledge in either quiz requires a score of 15/15. Since the questions are intended to encourage learning you are welcome to print off the quiz and use it as a study guide. However, keep in mind that for this module the quizzes will appear a little different each time you open them!
If your protocols require anesthesia and pain management you must also complete Module II.
